This resource is intended as an alternative to the standard ‘Christmas’ lessons at the end of term. Learning remains the key priority yet students have an insight to how New Year’s Eve is celebrated in Spain and can have some fun talking about their New Year’s Resolutions using the future tense.
The lesson begins with New Year’s themed vocabulary, with memory games and a text to put the new words into practice. Then the focus moves to New Year’s Resolutions as the slides recap the future tense using IR + a + infinitive (it could also be used to introduce the tense) and practise it. A range of infinitive expressions for resolutions are provided with memory games to drill them. Students have the opportunity to say their own New Year’s Resolutions, work on translation both ways and it ends with a text and comprehension. Answer slides are provided to save time for the teacher.
